Following its announcement that it has set the base price for 3G spectrum, the DoT (Department of Telecommunications) of India recently announced on its website the auction timelines for 3G-WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) and WiMAX(Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access)/BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) spectrum, Bloomberg reported on September 14. According to the timelines, India will kick off the long-awaited auction for 3G spectrum on December 7, 2009. Telecom operators who are interested in participating in the auction are required to submit their bids for licenses by November 13. Additionally, all bidders are also required to submit any queries related to the auction by October 8 prior to a pre-bid conference, to be held on October 12, according to Bloomberg again.

Meanwhile, the DoT also revealed on the website that the auction for WiMAX/BWA licenses will be held two days after the completion of the 3G auction process.
